A new study by First Data, an international payment processing company, shows that San Francisco's restaurant industry is beginning to edge out New York in terms of overall growth. Eater.com reports that the client data, analyzed between 2013 - 2015, shows that while the cities' dining scenes are both growing in different ways, SF is increasing at a faster rate, with higher overall sales in two of the last three years. According to the Centers for Disease Control, as reported by Restaurant Business Online, the scary Salmonella outbreak that occurred this past fall has spread to include 39 states. Since November 19th, 2015, 50 more people have reported Salmonella related illnesses from 16 states, including two deaths. That brings the total count up to 888 cases, including 6 deaths and 191 hospitalizations. While the frequency of reports has declined, it's still unusual to see cases continuing at this time of year.
