Restaurant technology is improving at a rapid pace, and new solutions to age-old problems pop up every day. Trackin is the latest addition to the fray, aiming to be the catch-all delivery management software restaurateurs dream about. The startup, founded and headed by CEO Bruno Dieder, consists of a main dashboard, mobile app, and online ordering system. The goal: streamline the way you manage delivery drivers and orders, while making the process easier for customers. As TechCrunch repots, Trackin works a-la Uber to accept online orders from customers, and track your delivery drivers. The smart software can even pull orders from established sites such as GrubHub and Eat24. Customers can order via the aforementioned sites, through the Trackin widget on a restaurants website, or over the phone (in which case orders are entered manually by the restaurant). Customer and order information is delivered to drivers via a smartphone app, which also tracks their location and collects data about response and transit times. It's that last point that gives Trackin extra usefulness. The software analyzes data, and can even set up a delivery zone around the restaurant, based on ETA (rather than the current standard of zip codes or distance in miles). You, or the customer, in the case of online orders, just enter the destination address and Trackin will determine whether it's within the approved zone (and, presumably, help you decide if the delivery person should walk, bike, or drive). As TechCrunch points out, it can also help restaurant owners determine if they need more delivery drivers, for instance, if response times are slow.
