- Screwdriver or drill with screwdriver bit
- Screws (you'll want to buy screws suitable for the material and thickness of your table top)

- Measuring tape (to ensure your table base is centered)
- Level (optional, but often helpful)
Step-by-Step Guide to Assembling a Table Base
- Prepare Your Workspace: Clear a flat, spacious area where all of your parts can be laid out. If you're assembling on hardwood, tile, or cement, using a blanket or towel can help prevent damage, such as scratches. Assembly can be done with one person for smaller table tops, but it's generally easier to have a second set of hands.
- Identify the Components: Lay out all the pieces – legs or base, tabletop, brackets, screws, bolts, nails, etc. Verify that you have all the necessary parts and that nothing is missing.
- Assemble the Table Base: Follow the assembly instructions for your specific table base, and put the whole thing together. Usually that means stacking the column on top of the base, and the mounting plate on top of the column, and then routing the assembly rod through all the pieces. Some bases use individual bolts that secure the column and mounting plate.
- Secure the Base to the Tabletop: For smaller table bases and tops, you can lay the table top upside down on a soft floor or blanket. Then flip the table base upside down, and line it up in the center of the table top. Attach the base to the top using screws, and then carefully flip the entire assembled table over. This is often easier with 2 or more people. For larger table tops, you'll want to first mark the underside of the table where you want the base(s) to mount, and then place the table top on the top of the table base(s). Then carefully attach the base to the table top using screws.
- Tighten the connections: Check the tabletop alignment and the table base, making sure all hardware is secure. If there is wobbling or unevenness, it’s probably due to loose hardware, so recheck and tighten as needed.
- Flip it and reverse it–finishing up!
With the help of another person, flip the table back to its upright position, then use a team lift to place it where it belongs. Give it a gentle shake to make sure the table is level, even, and that any leveling glides are correctly attached to keep it stable.
