The Obama Administration has pushed out the deadline for restaurants to comply with new menu labeling requirements, reports Nations Restaurant News. The regulations, part of the Affordable Care Act of 2010, require restaurants and certain other food related businesses to post calorie counts on their menus. The deadline was originally set for December of 2015, but has been pushed back, with the administration citing a need for further clarification of the rules. The new regulations state that companies with 20 or more locations, calorie information must be posted for every item on the menu. Some larger companies, such as Starbucks and Panera Bread, have already taken the steps to be compliant. Other companies are unclear on the rules, especially grocery stores that sell prepared food. A few groups are petitioning for revisions that would draw clearer lines when it comes to what types of establishments are required to comply. Have the new rules affected your restaurant, and are you pleased to have another year to comply with the rules? Let us know what you think via Facebook, Google+ and Twitter.
