Not too long ago, we wrote about the recent decline of truly formal dining experiences, which were being pushed out in favor of more millennial friendly casual concepts. Suit jacket's and ties have been pushed to the back of closets, restaurant décor went industrial chic, and tablecloths were put away in favor of reclaimed wood and cement surfaces. But is the tide now changing again? A recent article by Michael Baver on Inside Scoop SF explores the issue, and wonders if some of the formal trends of dining years past are slowly making their way back into the restaurant scene. Tablecloths may not be the only thing changing, but they are a very visible symbol of upscale dining. Millennials, the generation that restauranteurs are forever chasing, are growing up. While Baver notes that it is not a revolution yet, we wonder, are millennial starting to crave the formal experiences they just recently upended? Are more restaurants moving back to more formal practices? One thing is for sure, in a world where most restaurant interiors are made with wood, metal and cement, some tablecloths would sure help modulate noise levels. How about in your restaurant, have you made any changes to the décor to make it more or less formal? Share your thoughts with us via social media, through Twitter, Facebook or Google+.
