    Mellow3 Sous-vide, the process of cooking food in sealed bags immersed in circulating hot water, has been a popular cooking method among restaurant chefs for the past several years. Previously, options for using the method at home have been limited to just a few rather expensive options. Recently, however, newcomers such as Sansaire and Anova have developed great options for around $200, and now consumers have a few great choices.   6. Kickstarter Adding New Food Subcategories

    Screen Shot 2014-04-21 at 11.44.43 AM A few weeks ago we reported on Dinner Lab, a pop-up style foodie organization that provides members with special dinner events in major cities across the US. Dinner lab is also looking into starting a permanent establishment, and almost every detail of the to-be-business is being driven by feedback from Dinner Lab members. Now, prolific crowd-funding website Kickstarter has announced some new subcategories, to better organize and identify the projects of aspiring restauranteurs. As Eater.com reports, the new categories under "Food" include things such as "Food Trucks", "Cookbooks", "Farms" and even "Bacon".   7. New Website Connecting Consumers with Sustainable Businesses

SWITCH, a crowd-sourced online database, rates the city's restaurants based on their sustainability. The website's founder, Gerald Mitchell, wanted to create an easy way for consumers to identify restaurants that exercise sustainable practices. The ratings are not limited to the establishments' environmental friendliness. Rather, it covers everything from the business's recycling practices to how well the treat their employees.   8. A Custom Dining Table in Fort Collins, Colorado

    Cody Van Did you know that we actually sell a lot of bases to individuals, for use in homes? Many of our products end up being used for creative DIY furniture projects, such as dining tables, desks, and even kitchen counters.   10. Custom Ottomans using our RFL450 Stainless Steel Table Base

    Ottmans Today our customer photograph comes courtesy of Covers Unlimited Inc, a Chicago based custom furniture manufacturer that also specializes in reupholstering and refinishing. For this project, they utilized our RFL450 Table Base, cut to a custom height, to create some stunning custom ottomans. The ottoman frames are kiln dried poplar hardwood, sustainably sourced. Covers Unlimited then puts in a commercial strength webbing suspension, and stuffs the piece with high density foam.
