Ah Green...the color of all that nature has to give. From fresh grass clippings, to pine trees topped with snow, to beautiful tropical plants. The beautiful transition into spring, the color of rebirth and the color of growth. Green represents many things. There’s clearly a reason why it’s the paint color choice for 2022.
Expect an influx in shades of green as the new year approaches. You may be asking yourself “why is green all of a sudden now trending?” The website Houzz talks about the reasons for the recent switch to green. “For one thing, after so many years of pure white and cool shades of gray and blue dominating interiors, I think folks are looking for warmer hues.” Green has many different shades for warm and cool hues, and is especially good at creating a cooling effect when paired with white or lighter colors. It also pairs very well with wood and natural looking designs, and creates an outdoor jungle vibe, which a lot of people are trying to achieve nowadays.
Houzz introduced Benjamin Moore’s most recent paint shade “October Mist”, which offers the perfect mixture between a cooling light green with just enough medium shade to create a wonderful warm color for fall. The word “seafoam” comes to mind when seeing this shade in a brightly lit living room. Houzz also featured the shade “Evergreen fog” by Sherwin-Williams. Evergreen is another warm fall green, however this one is a bit more soft and more neutral shade. Compare it to the shade of leaves from an olive tree and you’ll get the picture. If you’re wanting a cooler shade to brighten up a room for spring time, “Breezeway” by Behr is the perfect color for you. This shade is clean and crisp, and has a chilling effect inside a room. It is described as an inspiration from sea-glass, and is great for rooms with little to no natural light.
Whether you’re looking for a neutral shade of green to create a soothing presence in your home, or a shade that peaks in the springtime when paired with yellows or rust colors, green is a color that can offer many different experiences. With so many shades to choose from, you’re bound to find that perfect match that brings your home to life. So the next time you’re thinking you want a change of scenery, don’t forget that green is the color of rebirth!
