French Fries

French fries are like baseball and apple pie, very American and very much loved by our nation. While the fried spuds may never relinquish their firmly held position as America's favorite side dish, it seems that other options are beginning to show some growth. According to a 2011 conducted by NPD group, as reported by QSR Magazine, consumers are reporting that vegetables are their favorite side dish to serve at home. While this may very well have something to do with the fact that most consumers do not have deep fryers at home nor want to deal with burning hot oils on their stove, it still looks promising for restaurants who are looking for new menu innovations and healthier side dish options. As QSR Magazine points out, while onion rings and mashed potatoes are available as options at many restaurants, other fried vegetables suzh as squash or tempura veggies could be a big hit with consumers, or even different varieties of potatoes.
